Mercedes Gearbox

Mercedes in the lighter range of trucks now use mainly ZF gearboxes with the popular ZF S542 appearing in the 7.5-ton vehicle.
As we move up through the vehicle range, Mercedes fit their own units with models such as the G4.65, G4.95, GV110 in the older applications and the G210, G225, G235 and G240 in the later models.
In the later vehicles all units are ECU controlled with many of the trucks now going to 2 pedal.

For many years Mercedes shared an axle manufacturing plant with MAN both fitting a range of Spiral Bevel and Hub Reduction

Mercedes have always produced their own power steering boxes normally prefixed with the letters LS followed by 1 digit, this denotes the model & series.
